How Did It Start?

On Christmas Eve 1978, Sonja and Otmar Schaedle sailed into Admiralty Bay harbour and explored a secluded spot above the sea. Local hearsay suggested the site was a former plantation, which was confirmed by a 1763 map and stories from islanders. Inspired by the ruins they found, the Schaedles began the journey of restoring the plantation and turning history into a home.

After years of travelling the world and embracing life’s adventures, Sonja and Otmar settled at The Old Fort Estate, enjoying comfort, relaxation, and good food. Since 2005, their son has carried on their legacy, creating unforgettable new memories and experiences for all who visit.
